Local companies have issued reports of new jobs over the next few years. There has never been a better time to move up into the home of your dreams because interest rates are still at record lows and homes can be found at a bargain. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to RealtyTimes.com, Colorado Springs in El Paso County shows the following statistics from the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Listings Sold: 490 (January - 480)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Median Sale Price: $200,000 (January - $200,000)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Average Sale Price: $231,121 (January - $236,939)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Average days on market: 97 (January - 98)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Total Active Listings: 4,675 (January - 4,528)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Median List Price: $250,000 (January - $247,898)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Average List Price: $346,047 (January - $338,604)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Colorado Springs housing market was significantly slower in 2007 than in prior years and property inventory was up by roughly 25%. New construction starts have slowed and it's considered to be a buyer's market. Spring 2008 brings 5,571 single family homes on the market in the Pikes Peak region. Additionally there are approximately 1000 condos for sale in the area. Nice resell homes on the market are taking an average of three-to-six months or longer, to sell.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;New home sales have dropped in Colorado Springs, CO and home prices are decreasing as the market continues to slow. It's a great time to find good deals on properties in El Paso County. There are many foreclosure homes on the market.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The US military influx that was expected into the city has not taken place due to war related changes. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, El Paso County surpassed Denver County as the most populous in the state of Colorado back in 2004. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El Paso County now has 565,582 residents, nearly 8,000 more than Denver and more than 36,000 more than third-place Arapahoe County. The county's population grew 1.4 percent between 2004 and 2005 and has increased 9.4 percent in the past six years. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A booming population doesn't mean much other than bragging rights for El Paso County, which by all signs is going to keep growing for a long time to come. Of course the Denver metro area, which includes nine counties and 2.6 million residents, still dwarfs Colorado Springs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;An expected increase in military families in the city over the next few years should assure El Paso County's place at the top of the pecking order. Eisenhower&lt;/a&gt;, though the idea for an academy to train air force officers surfaced before then. Construction on the school began in 1955 and the first class of 206 men was inducted that year. Cadets met at &lt;a href="http://www.strategic-air-command.com/bases/Lowry_AFB.htm"&gt;Lowry Air Force Base&lt;/a&gt; in Denver until 1958, when the school moved to its current home.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In 1975, President &lt;a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/gf38.html"&gt;Gerald Ford&lt;/a&gt; signed legislation compelling the Academy to admit women, and the first female cadets joined in 1976, with the first female graduates coming in 1980. In 1993 the first civilian instructors were hired; they now make up almost 20 percent of the faculty. The Cadet Wing is limited to 4,000 students who can specialize in any of 30 academic programs and four minors. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Professional military studies are stressed, as well as theoretical and applied leadership experiences, aviation science and airmanship, military training and physical and moral development. The Air Force Academy Falcons field 17 men's and 10 women's teams in Division 1 of the NCAA. Most importantly, however, the school is dedicated to training the best pilots and military officers for the future of the air force and our national security.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Academy has graduated 45 classes and more than 36,000 students, 51 percent of whom are still on active duty. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Newcomers to the base can find housing in the Pine Valley Housing Area, near &lt;a href="http://academy.d20.co.edu/pve/index.html"&gt;Pine Valley Elementary School&lt;/a&gt;. Families stationed at Peterson Air Force Base also live here, and those stationed at other bases can be put on a waiting list to live there. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Only those whose positions are considered key and mission essential are required to live on base.
